Different gardening classes are always offered at Manda’s Plant Farm throughout the season for anyone who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirt or just likes to play in the dirt! And, on the subject of kid’s gardening, Girl Scouts from the Massillon and Canton area recently came to Manda’s Plant Farm to partake in some special activities that helped them to earn a badge! The girls had lots of fun, and look forward to coming back again with their families to explore everything else that Manda’s has to offer. The kindergarten girls had a different assignment than the older scouts. They were tasked with (and are still talking about) raising lady beetles, and then releasing them into the greenhouses! It was a fun project for the kids, but it actually served a greater purpose: Lady beetles are part of IPM. IPM, which stands for Integrated Pest Management is part of the chemical-free growing process at Manda’a Plant Farm. If you are a scout leader, teacher, or just interested in an event or gardening class, call Jill at 330-854-2637.
Of course, you don’t need to wait for a class to visit Manda’s. In fact, it’s a good idea to drop in at least once a week for the featured perennial! Each week a different perennial will be featured at a special price, so you can take these beauties home for a steal! Stop in every week to add color and variety to your flower beds, and watch the “return” on your investment year after year.
