Boyd, going by the name of E.F. Boyd Funeral Parlor. He later took on a partner –Lewis J. Dean—and officially opened in 1906. During the early 1930s, Elmer was joined in the business by his son, William F. Boyd. With his business beginning to prosper, Elmer and his wife Cora purchased the present E.F. Boyd & Son Funeral Home headquarters location in 1938: 2165 E. 89th Street. Along with this purchase, Boyd changed the name of his establishment to what is now E.F. Boyd & Son Funeral Home. Although Elmer F. Boyd has passed on, his family has continued his work, improving and enhancing the overall business and its presence in the community.
