College entrance exams have undergone many changes over the years, and the College Board recently announced another restructuring of the SAT that will go into effect in 2016. If your child is a freshman or sophomore in high school, chances are they’ve already received some SAT practice in their classes. However, with the new changes to the SAT, students need to reconsider how they approach this important exam. Fortunately for those who want to get a head start on SAT prep, Huntington Learning Center offers exam tutoring specifically for this assessment. Whether your child is a senior and will be taking the exam in May, or they still have a couple of years to go, Huntington Learning Center can provide an SAT program that fits their needs. As of right now, Huntington Learning Center’s SAT programs are geared toward helping students who will be taking the SAT in its current form. The Premier Program, 28-Hour Program, and 10-Hour Program all are designed to assist high school juniors and seniors who will not be affected by the new 2016 SAT. By enrolling your 11th or 12th grade student in exam tutoring at Huntington Learning Center, they’ll have the opportunity to get the SAT practice they need for their upcoming assessment. However, since SAT prep at Huntington Learning Center focuses on test-taking strategies, time-management, and academic knowledge, freshmen and sophomores will benefit as well.
As time-management is a skill that students will need throughout their academic careers, this part of SAT prep at Huntington Learning Center won’t change. Test-taking strategies and academic knowledge, however, may be altered slightly to fit the new SAT format. For instance, as the math and vocabulary sections will focus more on problems and words that apply to real-life applications, SAT practice at Huntington will not feature broad math concepts or obscure vocabulary questions. Younger students will still prepare for the optional essay question as the ability to compose lengthy responses is something that will benefit them in college.
Regardless of when your child will be taking the SAT, it’s best to begin SAT prep early so they’re ready for the assessment.
