Once summer break comes to an end and the children are back in school, it can be difficult to find family-friendly activities that you and your little ones can enjoy together. Fortunately, there are plenty of attractions in Stark County, Ohio, as well as special fall events that are scheduled for the next few months. One local festival worth checking out is the Gathering of the Trolls in downtown Alliance, Ohio. Just a short distance from the Canton, Ohio and Akron, Ohio areas, this upcoming event will feature tasty food, live music, a charity walk, and even a costume contest! Hosted by The Troll Hole Museum & Art Emporium, the Gathering of the Trolls is one unique experience that you and your family won’t want to miss.
For those interested in this fall event, there are three levels of participation. Residents from all over the Canton and Akron areas are welcome to come as spectators in order to watch the Troll Stroll, listen to live music, shop for gifts at nearby vendors, and partake in delicious foods and beverages. Those who want to take part in the Troll Stroll only have to pay $10 for the charity walk, food, and drinks. Finally, there’s a third option for those who’d like to participate in the Troll Stroll, compete in the costume contest, and get a cool goody bag from The Troll Hole Museum & Art Emporium. Goody bags are available to those who dress up in any type of fantasy/troll-creature costume, and include such items as a t-shirt, keychain, draw-string backpack, sandwich, drink coupon, and $5 off a reserved spot in the 2016 Troll Stroll in which they will be attempting the Guinness World Record for largest gathering of people dressed as trolls!
In addition to being a fun, family-friendly activity, this local festival also gives people the opportunity to contribute to a good cause. Part of the proceeds from the Gathering of the Trolls will go towards Arts for Alzheimer’s Alliance—an organization that “supports various art endeavors throughout Stark County in an effort to help connect those with Alzheimer’s/dementia, and their caregivers, with artistic projects that add depth and meaning to the lives of those touched by this disease.” Though there are many attractions in the area, The Troll Hole Museum & Art Emporium is unique in its mission to provide family-friendly activities while also helping those in the community. Needless to say, it’s definitely worth checking out their upcoming fall event!
