Mountain biking is a great way for individuals to stay active outside of their homes. Although this form of cycling can be done alone, many find it more enjoyable when they can bike with someone who shares in their interest. For those that are just beginning to familiarize themselves with this activity, having a group support system can be beneficial to their development as a rider as well as their continued motivation. Mike Hulett—The Broadway Cyclery owner and IMBA certified mountain bike instructor—understands the importance of group exercise and activities like these. To help provide individuals with a way to participate in cycling in a group setting, he proudly leads a mountain bike group each week along the Bedford Singletrack.
In fact, this mountain bike group meets every Wednesday—weather and daylight permitting—to travel the Bedford Singletrack. Typically, this group ride runs about 1.5 to 2 hours long as the entire reservation trail is travelled. However, the Bedford Singletrack is designed in such a way that individuals can choose a stopping spot and ride back to another location if they do not wish to participate in the full ride. Furthermore, the group ride offered by The Broadway Cyclery is a no drop ride. What this means is that no one is left behind. Although riding ahead is permitted, leader Mike Hulett stays with the group down to the slowest rider. After all, this no drop ride is open to individuals of all riding levels and everyone has their own pace.
As an IMBA Level I mountain bike instructor, Mike can also provide professional instruction and advice to participants in this mountain bike group. In fact, he gladly answers questions pertaining to technique and much more to those who ask during this ride through the Bedford Reservation. By providing this form of casual instruction, participants are able to learn at a pace that is right for them without feeling insecure about their skill level.
For those that lack a mountain bike of their own for this weekly event, The Broadway Cyclery has a variety of mountain bikes to choose from as part of their regular bike rentals. Through these affordable bike rentals, more individuals visiting from Cleveland, Streetsboro, Hudson, and more are able to obtain a reliable bicycle for this event. Because renting a mountain bike for this event every week may not be financially feasible for some, The Broadway Cyclery is happy to help individuals find the ideal mountain bike for them at their local shop.
Right now, The Broadway Cyclery has an array of 2015 mountain bikes available and on sale at their physical location. They also have an assortment of new 2016 models available for individuals to choose from for their mountain biking needs as well. When purchasing a new bike, the friendly staff of The Broadway Cyclery recommends purchasing the necessary biking accessories needed to stay safe when mountain biking or participating in any other form of cycling. After all, safety is exceptionally important—as is hydration! For this reason and many others, The Broadway Cyclery is happy to offer biking accessories like nutcase helmets, catlike helmets, lazer helmets and more for safety at their shop. To help individuals remain hydrated as they participate in their cycling endeavors, The Broadway Cyclery offers a good selection of OGIO brand hydration packs that can be worn during cycling as well. With the proper hydration and safety equipment – along with one of the exceptional mountain bikes offered at The Broadway Cyclery—individuals from Cleveland, Streetsboro, Hudson, and more can be prepared to hit the trails.
