Since E.F. Boyd & Son Funeral Home and Crematory opened their doors in 1905, they have developed deep ties to the communities of Cleveland, Ohio; East Cleveland, Ohio; and Cleveland Heights, Ohio. As a local, family-owned business, E.F. Boyd understands the importance of supporting your local community. E.F. Boyd reaches out to the community again Saturday, September 22, 2012, by being a supporting sponsor of the 10th annual NAMIWalks.
NAMI is the largest grassroots mental health organization in the United States. Majority of all NAMI affiliates work within their own local community to raise awareness and provide essential, free education, advocacy, and support group programs for people living with mental illness. Since 1979, NAMI has focused its energy on educating America about mental health and how it affects not only, those who suffer from it but their loved ones as well. Over sixty million people are impacted a year, which is about one in every four adults will suffer from it and one out of every ten children will experience it.
Supporting your local community can begin with just a walk. NAMI believes that every journey beings with one step and as such, have organized events like NAMIWalks for the past ten years. Through these events, they can help bring awareness to bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, depression, schizophrenia, and more. Registration is free and is open until the day of the walk to anyone who wants to join. NAMI encourages team building through their walks but placing each walker into a group. You may register as a group or as a solo participant. If you register individually, you may choose to either join an existing group or create your own team. You can join teams, communicate with other walkers, and interact on NAMI’s own internal message board. NAMI provides all of its awareness based off of generous donations and organized events, like NAMIWalks. If you would like to donate to NAMI, you may do so on their website, www.namiwalks.org. One hundred percent of the donations raised go directly to NAMI State Organization to promote the education, support, and advocacy of mental health.
E.F. Boyd is proud to be a part of NAMI’s effort to raise awareness to individuals and the community. Due to E.F. Boyd’s deep ties to the Greater Cleveland community they are happy to be a part of something so instrumental. Boyd has appreciated being a part of the community for over a hundred years and continually strives to do what they can to improve the lives of their neighbors. To become a supporter with E.F.
