Perspective is an interestingly unique thing to share with people, especially through different mediums of expression and art. Be it through photography, paintings, or sculpture, an artist can convey a range of different meanings. This fall, you can view Perspectives, a gallery show hosted by Art Gallery in Willoughby, Ohio featuring six different local artists and their fantastic interpretations and perspectives on anything from nature to politics to the supremely pretentious. Whether you are from Euclid, Ohio; Painesville, Ohio; or elsewhere nearby, you won’t want to miss this showing, not with the superb quality of artists being featured! Art Gallery will also be offering a variety of affordable art classes, perfect for those wanting to learn a new way to share their own perspective.
Six local artists featured in just one gallery show? Well, given the nature of the show titled Perspectives, it’s not surprising that Art Gallery wanted to include as many distinct artistic perspectives as possible! Those interested in viewing the show can expect to see inspired photographs from the gifted Marilyn Dolence, unique and whimsy-driven sculpture from the Painesville based artist Leslie Edwards Humez, photography and graphic art by Zachary Hoon, and original cartoons from Nick Humez. Also included in the showing will be selected paintings from Ted Lawson, a local watercolor artist, and George Kocar, a distinctive painter whose colorful works tend to jab at all things ostentatious. The opening of Perspectives will take place on October 10th, 2014.
If you are looking for an interactive activity to do with friends from around Willoughby or Euclid, you will want to be sure to stop by this local gallery on October 10th during the opening! Not only can you view Perspectives, but Zachary Hoon will be taking photos throughout the day, with which he will use to produce one composite photo. The composite photo will be revealed at Art Gallery on November 22nd, a piece you’ll want to come back and view, especially if you are someone photographed by Mr. Hoon himself! This would this be a fun, interesting way to get that group photo of all of your coworkers from the office. November 22nd actually marks the second opening of Perspectives, so in addition to being able to view Mr. Hoon’s composite, you’ll be able to view added pieces from most of the artists.
In addition to the showing of Perspectives, Art Gallery is a wonderful resource to consider if you are interested in learning more about communicating your own perspective through art and other creative processes. Offering a unique variety of art classes, you have the ability to take classes on watercolor, pastel, beading, etc. Not only are the classes affordable, but very well worth the invaluable knowledge and experience you will gain by taking them.
The great Athenian philosopher Aristotle was quoted as saying that “the aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance”. It would seem that there would be no better way of describing the range of perspectives that will be being showcased at Art Gallery this fall. Whether you come to view the works being featured, or simply to attend one of the art classes being offered, this local gallery will not disappoint.
