Huntington Learning Center Joins the Private Ventures for the Public Good Campaign

Oftentimes tax-paying organizations like Huntington Learning Center are unable to provide much-needed services to students and schools simply because they are privately owned. Fortunately for those students and schools who require assistance, Huntington Learning Center has joined with the Education Industry Association (EIA) and the Education Industry Foundation (EIF) in their Private Ventures for the Public Good Campaign. If you have a child who is struggling to get additional help in school, this campaign may have a major impact on their success. Huntington’s efforts to improve student achievement have proven to be very effective, and with the help of this campaign, they may soon be able to offer additional services to schools in the following areas:
• Broadview Heights, Ohio   • Shaker Heights, Ohio          • Willoughby, Ohio
• Brecksville, Ohio                 • Cleveland Heights, Ohio    • Stow, Ohio
• North Royalton, Ohio           • Mentor, Ohio                        • Kent, Ohio
• University Heights, Ohio     • Chardon, Ohio                     • Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio

Companies like Huntington Learning Center are often dismissed as being “for-profit” organizations. However, just because an organization is part of a private enterprise doesn’t mean that it isn’t genuine in its desire to help those in need. Huntington Learning Center has been helping to improve student achievement for over 35 years through one-on-one tutoring. Children and adults who have gone to Huntington have been impressed by the Huntington tutors’ commitment and dedication to teaching. Each student works with one of Huntington’s staff using a plan developed just for them. By suggesting new studying techniques, explaining difficult subject material, and having regular conferences with parents, Huntington Learning Center’s staff helps children gain control of their problem areas and become better students.

Despite the good work that Huntington Learning Center has done, the organization is still occasionally looked down upon by those in the public sector. And that is why Huntington Learning Center has joined with the Education Industry Association and the Education Industry Foundation in their Private Ventures for the Public Good Campaign. This campaign is meant to set the record straight in regards to educational organizations in the private sector. By using research, advocacy, and communications, Huntington and the other supporters hope to show others just how beneficial their services truly are. The Private Ventures for the Public Good Campaign intends to “create a more open market for charter school operators, providers of extended learning time, suppliers of alternative and special education services and school turn-around companies.” If the campaign is successful in raising awareness, then the EIF, EIA, and their supporters will help to develop conditions that promote effective public-private partnerships.
