Huntington Learning Center Offers a Summer Reading Program for Children of All Ages

Despite the fact that classes aren’t in session at this time, it doesn’t mean that your little ones should take a 3-month break from learning. Summer offers students a great opportunity to work on their problem areas and get caught up so they’re ready when the fall semester begins. If one or more of your children are struggling with reading and writing, you may want to take this time to enroll them in a literacy program so they won’t continue to fall behind their classmates. As it so happens, Huntington Learning Center offers K-12 reading help during the summer with a fun and interesting tutoring strategy. By encouraging children to get involved in their summer reading program, Huntington’s staff members are able to assist students throughout the following areas:

• Broadview Heights, Ohio   • Shaker Heights, Ohio          • Willoughby, Ohio
• Brecksville, Ohio                 • Cleveland Heights, Ohio     • Stow, Ohio
• North Royalton, Ohio           • Mentor, Ohio                       • Kent, Ohio
• University Heights, Ohio     • Chardon, Ohio                     • Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio
• Independence, Ohio            • Parma Heights, Ohio           • Parma, Ohio
• Akron, Ohio                           • Tallmadge, Ohio                  • Seven Hills, Ohio
• Hudson, Ohio

Though your children may initially balk at the idea of having their summer interrupted by some new tutoring strategy you’re forcing on them, eventually they’ll see how much good can come from enlisting the help of Huntington during their 3-month break. Instead of enrolling in yet another boring literacy program, your children will be able to participate in Huntington’s Reading Adventure, a fun-filled summer reading program open to students from kindergarten to high school!

As a way to get little ones excited about learning while still providing K-12 reading help, Huntington Learning Center has turned their annual summer reading program into a game. Parents who decide to try this tutoring strategy will be able to take their children to the nearest Huntington Learning Center location in order to pick up one of their carefully selected book lists. Students are encouraged to read as many of the books from the list as possible by the end of the summer. In fact, as an incentive, staff members at Huntington Learning Center give each child a reading “passport” to record all of the books they read over the summer. At the end of the season, all participants will be honored by receiving a certificate of completion and other prizes!

Though there are other ways to get K-12 reading help for your children, this unique literacy program actually tries to create interest in students. Students who develop a love for reading will be more likely to do it when it’s not a requirement. Eventually, any weakness they may have had in spelling, grammar, or comprehension will be a thing of a past!
