The 4^th of July weekend couldn’t have gone better for the staff members and guests at Clare-Mar Lakes Campground. However, that doesn’t mean that the summer fun is over for this local facility. In fact, it’s just beginning! On August 1^st, Clare-Mar Lakes Campground will be celebrating 50 years in business and 45 years of being run by the Sears family. To mark the occasion, this campground near Cleveland, Ohio will be hosting a summer barbecue and a variety of activities for kids to keep the little ones entertained while the adults let loose. Since Clare-Mar’s staff will be using this family-friendly event as a way to say thank you for all of the support they’ve received over the years, it’s an excellent time for newcomers to see just what this facility is all about. Not only will you be able to see why residents from all over Ohio and neighboring states choose to reserve their seasonal campsites year after year, but it will also give you the chance to learn more about the 2015 Wellington BalloonFest—a weekend festival of music, food, and hot air balloons that will be held towards the end of August.

The current owner of Clare-Mar Lakes Campground, Don Sears, is excited by everything the staff has planned for the summer. His parents, Len and Barb Sears, bought the property at its early age of 5. Over the years, Clare-Mar has made many lifelong friends; in fact, they are now witnessing four generations passing through their gates! Plus, this campground near Cleveland has new signups for their seasonal campsites every year. For Don, it’s wonderful to look back at all of the accomplishments Clare-Mar has had, all of the family-friendly events they’ve held, and all of the fun and enjoyment they’ve delivered over the last few decades. That’s why they’re celebrating their anniversary by offering several activities for kids as well as adults.

The summer barbecue will take place on August 1^st, featuring mouthwatering barbecue ribs, chicken, and sides. Anyone and everyone who wants to celebrate with Clare-Mar is more than welcome to attend! Following the dinner, Clare-Mar Lakes Campground will be bringing back an old friend that virtually grew up on the 220-acre facility—Big Mike. This talented musician will be performing from 7pm until 10 along with Lyn Doher. These acoustic guitar players will be serving up many classic rock songs along with some country favorites. Needless to say, it’s a family-friendly event worth checking out!

Tickets for dinner and music are only $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children. If you’re interested in a weekend getaway, guests are asked to make their camping reservations and purchase their tickets before July 20^th.

If you won’t be able to join in on the festivities, rest assured that Clare-Mar Lakes Campground has more planned before the summer is over. On August 22^nd, they will once again be sponsoring the Wellington BalloonFest. Throughout the weekend there will be live music, games for the kids, vendors, food, beverages, and hot air balloons galore! Visitors will have the opportunity to see the balloons up close and talk with the pilots. Come nightfall, the baskets will be anchored and the balloons inflated for the Balloon Glow. Those who have visited this hot air balloon festival before will agree that the beautiful light produced by the gas burners is reason enough to take the trip from your Akron or Medina home.

For this event, the gates will open at 3pm and the Balloon Glow will take place at dusk. If you reserve your campsite now, you and your loved ones can make an entire weekend of it! Tickets for the event are $5 for adults and $3 for children. Camping, of course, is extra.
