When the time comes, we all have to say goodbye to our furry family members and put them to rest. If you’re like most pet owners, you want to give your four-legged friend the send-off they deserve. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to find a pet cemetery in your area, let alone one that’s kept in good condition. Most pet memorial parks are sorely neglected, leaving visitors responsible for maintaining their pets’ burial plots. Though it may seem as though cremation is your only option, there is one local pet graveyard that’s receiving the care and respect it deserves. And it’s all thanks to the Friends of Pet Cemetery Association! This non-profit organization was created in order to oversee the former Boston Hills Pet Memorial Park near Aurora, Ohio. With members as far as the Bedford, Ohio and Chardon, Ohio areas, Friends of Pet Cemetery Association is finally able to provide families with the well-maintained dog, cat, or even horse cemetery they need.
Just a few years ago, there was a lot of uncertainty about what would happen to the local pet graveyard near Aurora. Since 1945, over 15,000 pets have been buried at Boston Hills Pet Memorial Park, ranging from birds to monkeys. Needless to say, the thought of losing their pets’ burial plots was one that a number of residents just wouldn’t accept. Wanting to make sure their donations would be put toward cleaning up and preserving the pet cemetery, these determined individuals set up a 501(c) non-profit committed to maintaining and overseeing this pet memorial park.
Since the Friends of Pet Cemetery Association was formed, they’ve grown to include over 125 members from throughout the Bedford and Chardon areas. Most of these individuals have already taken advantage of the local pet graveyard; however, several others plan to put their own animals there to rest in the future. Due to the fact that those involved with the Friends of Pet Cemetery Association are animal lovers, this newly formed organization will undoubtedly go above and beyond to ensure that all pet owners have a nice place to visit their departed family members. In fact, becoming a member of the Friends of Pet Cemetery Association means you’ll receive a significant discount on your own pet burial plot when the time comes. Not only will you be helping others in need of a dog, cat, rabbit, bird, monkey, or even horse cemetery, but you’ll be guaranteeing a safe resting place for your own winged or four-legged family member too.
With all the good this organization is doing, it’s no wonder so many people around the Bedford, Ohio and Chardon, Ohio areas want to join!
