As Elton John would say…The Race is back! (Okay, that’s not quite what he said but…) it’s back! The Mayfield Mile, organized by Second Sole Lyndhurst, presented by Newton Running Shoes, is back on track and scheduled for Sunday, June 3rd, in Lyndhurst, Ohio. If you are a runner from Cleveland, Ohio, or surrounding Cuyahoga County, Ohio looking for a community run or a competitive race, then it is time to give all your fellow athletes a call and invite them to participate in the Mayfield Mile run! The Mayfield Mile run is a USATF certified event. Runners can expect a very fast and downhill race. There are two separate races to offer every level of runner a chance to participate! Registration is $15 before June 2nd, and $20 day of event. All runners will pay an additional $2.50 sign up fee to participate. Registration can be handled online at www.runsignup.com or you may send your registration forms to Second Sole Lyndhurst, c/o Clark Turner, 5114 Mayfield Rd., Lyndhurst, Ohio 44124 or physically drop them off at the Second Sole store in Lyndhurst.
The Mayfield Mile run will feature two separate races: One at 8am, which is a community run offering awards for various age groups. The competitive race offers prize money, and begins at 8:15am. Female runners must complete the run in less than 6 minutes while the male runners must finish in under 5 minutes. Community run prizes include a $50 Second Sole gift certificate for the first place female and male, first place in an age group receives a Newton Running Company hat, second in age group receives a pair of Newton Running Company socks, and third in age group receives a Newton Running Company bracelet. The age groups for the run are as follows: 70 plus, 60 to 69, 50 to 59, 40 to 49, 30 to 39, 20 to 29, 15 to 19, 11 to 14, and ten and under. The Elite Rite prizes are: first place receives $75 plus a free pair of Newton Running shoes, second place wins $50, and third place receives $25!
